Strathy Inn, Bed and Breakfast Accommodation, Bar & Restaurant

Craig and Heather are pleased to welcome you to this small, family-run coaching inn, set amongst the unspoilt and dramatic scenery of Scotland’s far north coast. The inn was built around two hundred years ago as a resting place for travellers on the north coast road.  Our aim today is to provide comfortable accommodation, good home-cooked food and friendly service to those visiting this beautiful area as well as a bar, restaurant and social venue for the local community.  For the visitor it is a great holiday base with Strathy B&B accommodation.

Strathy is a small crofting community at the mouth of the river Strathy. We have a beautiful beach with caves to explore and excellent surfing. Strathy Point provides outstanding views along the coast with cliffs and rock arches. It is one of very few habitats for the rare Scottish Primrose and one of the best spots for seeing whales, dolphins and porpoise in the Highlands.

There is much to do and see on a Strathy B&B Holiday

The Strathy Inn makes an excellent central base for exploring the far North Highlands from Cape Wrath to John O’Groats, and inland to remote straths, peatlands and mountains. It can also be used as a stopping off point for trips to Orkney where the history goes back 5,000 years from the settlement at Scara Brae to the Standing Stones of Stenness.  Strathy is surrounded by wildlife both beautiful and rare,  you can see puffins on the cliffs and many other birds with the RSPB reserve at Forsinard nearby. There are dolphins and sometimes whales to be seen from Strathy Point.  Activities locally include surfing and kayaking ,  walking and, cycling.   We are on the North Coast 500 ( NC500 ) route, the LEJOG ( Lands End to John O’Groats)  and several other  cycling routes.  You can  fish for salmon and trout, there is golf nearby at Reay and the  Castle of Mey and Dunrobin Castle to visit.

Just as key, we are perfectly placed as a base to explore the  West Coast, Dornoch Firth and the East Coast.

Everyone who stays at the Strathy Inn can enjoy a warm welcome and good food for you to return to at the end of the day.
